directionless you need from me some new problem to circle round some new problem to feed upon I try not to give you one but I can’t get to sleep till we fix our mistakes or make new ones fix my mistakes or take yours up can’t move on while you’re here stuck emotionless, I’m clean to be your blank slate to break, do what it takes to keep that circle just I feel no thirst so i’ll outlast directionless you need from me some new problem to circle round some new problem to feed upon I try not to give you one I try not to give you one I try not to give you one I try not to give you one

Helianthemum 02:52
I work by a new light, collecting round my skin: electric shock carved out canals I keep it in - a consolation prize for thirst I cannot quench: I hold the rose’s stem, all in fire drenched. I’m blind in the blaze till it’s done Helianthemum. numbers collapse into one, Helianthemum. the flower’s roots are firm, fixed feet down in the sun - it fortifies, enfolds the others who look on. my eyes are empty cups till dreams come pouring in, then I can take you up - my only work begins. I’m blind in the blaze till it’s done Helianthemum. numbers collapse into one, Helianthemum.

about

Give You One is the first single from Aphir’s upcoming third LP, Republic of Paradise.

Having completed work on her third album in 2019, Aphir decided to shelve the project when the Coronavirus hit; as the mood of the album felt incongruous with new pandemic paradigm. She turned instead to a body of work that was in development; darker and more intense, and much more reflective of the world in 2020.

Give You One is described as 'an anthem for the frustrated' and taps into the frenetic, pent-up energy of being locked indoors. The track features Melbourne singer-songwriter and multidisciplinary artist Sandy Hsu, alongside Aphir's chanted lyrics and screeches; all born of the anger that comes from knowing you have no control.
